How often does your own anxiety or the anxiety of others make it difficult to function personally and/or professionally? If you’re like most people, it happens more often than not. Family Systems Theory can help you to see things more clearly so you can learn to function as a non-anxious presence without blaming others or yourself. The Family Systems 101 course helps makes the theory easier to understand and apply to your own life.
This FREE, 11-week course meets every Tuesday from 7-8:30 pm via ZOOM, from September 26 through December 12, 2023 (excluding US Thanksgiving week).

What Previous Participants
Have to Say
Participating in the Family Systems 101 course was a very valuable experience for me. The format of the course and the facilitators provided multiple opportunities to apply the readings and new information to past, current and future life situations, As a recently retired educational administrator, I found myself wishing that I had found this learning and group reflection opportunity much earlier in my career. The deep insights and skills gained throughout the course have positively impacted me and those around me and will continue to do so in whatever roles I am called to serve.

This was a wonderful opportunity! As a pastor, gaining a better understanding of family systems and healthy self-differentiation has made an immediate difference in my leadership at church, and in my own family relationships. To belong to a safe group, meeting weekly to discuss and apply the principles, really makes the course more than simply academic… It’s a great opportunity to learn in a healthy relational setting. I highly recommend this course for anyone who is interested in “doing the work” to enrich relationships in their own lives and church, work, and community environments.

I was grateful to learn of the The Non Anxious Leader’s Network and its offer of Family Systems 101 as a free class. The course work is thoughtful. The reading is pulled from a variety of sources and each article invites a thoughtful response to many of our automatic behaviors. Family Systems 101 is an opportunity to grow in your personal and professional leadership skills. Jack Shitama has taken the sometimes dense concepts of Bowen Family Systems Theory and has made them approachable.

I learned about the family System’s class through a co-worker who herself had taken the class. Family Systems 101 was a real eye opener for me. For the first time I was able to understand the dynamics of my family and personal life. What I learned not only made me rethink how I deal with situations, but also how I react to situations. Really learning key elements on how to interact with my family changed my feelings and actions. Since taking Family Systems 101, I am more confident in my decision making and approach relationships, whether family or professional, with a sense of openness. Dealing with difficult situations is easier for me and I don’t become anxious. My new approach is working for me and I feel more confident and look forward to interactions with others.
